Trees, Smarter than I Thought–Who knew?!

Sometimes I receive answers to questions—and even prayers—I never actually ask out loud. It happens often enough that I’ve started paying attention.

For example, ever so often I’ve wondered how trees survive winter. Not enough to look it up, but enough to be curious whenever I saw bare branches standing through snow and freezing temperatures.

A morning devotional surprised me with an answer–I did my due diligence. As the days grow shorter, trees take their cue from the sun. They slow down, conserve resources, create a natural antifreeze within their sap, and rely on their bark for protection.

I was fascinated. Even now, weeks later, I’m still in awe and find myself thinking, That’s amazing. Maybe that’s one of the gifts of wonder—not just finding an answer but discovering something that makes you pause and appreciate the design behind it all.
