Late fall has a way of sneaking in—suddenly the air is crisp, your hoodie is now a full-on coat. You blink and boom–80 degrees drops to 50! As the weather cools, it’s a reminder that while things might slow down outside, your business still has plenty of steam left.
The cold weather’s not exactly my favorite time of the year—but like any good system, I know it serves a purpose. So, I lean into the slower days–using them as early hibernation days to slow down, reset, and gear up for what’s next. 🌬️✨

So, grab your cozy socks, as this season is about wrapping up strong and staying steady as we head toward year-end goals. That said, here’s how to keep your business cozy, focused, and thriving as the temperatures drop:
1️⃣ Bundle Up Your Loose Ends
Late fall is the perfect time to wrap up unfinished projects. Completing lingering tasks clears mental space and sets you up for a clean slate as winter rolls in. ✅
2️⃣ Warm Up Your Client Relationships
Reach out with a thoughtful note, a quick check-in, or a seasonal offer or gift. A little warmth in your communication goes a long way this time of year. 💌
3️⃣ Prep for Holiday Traffic
If you offer services or products, make sure your systems are ready for end-of-year demand. From inboxes to invoices, a little prep now prevents panic later.
4️⃣ Refresh Your Cold-Weather Workflow
Shorter days can mess with your rhythm; you blink and it’s dark—adjust your schedule to match your peak energy hours. Cozy up your workspace to make working indoors feel inviting, not draining. 🕯️🖥️
5️⃣ Check Your Year-End Goals
What can you think of that still needs love before December hits? Prioritize what matters most and gently let go of the rest—you’re human, not a snowplow. 🎯
6️⃣ Stay Inspired, Not Iced Out
When the cold creeps in, so can the creative freeze–been there, done that. Keep inspiration flowing with a new playlist 🎧, a creative challenge, or a change of scenery. As a virtual entrepreneur you can take your work wherever you go.
Just because the temps are dropping doesn’t mean your business momentum has to. With a little intention (and maybe an extra blanket), you can end the season strong, smart, and still smiling, bam!
Now’s the time to cozy up your systems, nurture your client connections, and plan like the pro you are. And if things start to feel a little frosty behind the scenes—don’t worry, I’ve got you covered like your favorite fall jacket.
Something About Nothing
What’s a Woolly Worm?

I don’t like things that crawls or slithers, it creeps me out. However, I find caterpillars fascinating. Several years ago I came across a black and brown banded (around 13 bands) crawler crawling on a friend’s driveway and asked “what the heck is that?”
She had a good laugh–because I thought it was a weird looking worm–and said it’s a woolly bear caterpillar (woolly worm). Since then my fascination has remained vigilant. I know, it’s weird, but hey–we each have our own little idiosyncrasies, right? 🤭 That’s one of mine.
I got to work and googled as much as I could about the little critter–it’s the only bug I don’t run from in the other direction screaming. 🧐 One of the things that fascinated me was the weather prediction (Folklore):
- More brown bands: A milder winter
- More black bands: A harsher, colder winter
- All black: A very harsh winter with lots of snow and ice
- All white/light brown: A snowy winter
There’s no proof that those predictions are accurate. Still, every year I look out for them to see how many black/brown bands they’ll have. They transform into an Isabela Tiger Moth! Butterflies are pretty and cool but moths? Not so much for me. 😂
Do you like things that slithers or crawl? Or is there one that doesn’t make you want to scream and run in the opposite direction? Go ahead and share.
