Branding, Choosing A Business Name

business name

Creating a business name can be a fun but challenging task. You’re looking for something that stands out without being overbearing and sometimes you just can’t seem to come up with the right words to describe the value you offer and can provide to potential clients.

Here are some tips to help you come up with a great name as well as something you can be darn proud of:

  • Think of keywords and concepts related to your business: Start by making a list of words and phrases that describe what your business does, represents, or wants to accomplish.

Think of adjectives, nouns, and verbs that will convey the essence of your brand. 👍🏽

  • Consider your target audience: Think about who your ideal clients are and what kind of language and tone would resonate with them. Your business name should appeal to your target audience and be easy for them to remember.

I worked with a couple of people that set the stage of who and what my target audience would look like. Of course they broke the mold but, the experience gave me a great checklist of what to look for when consulting with potential clients. 😅

  • Keep it simple and easy to pronounce: No need for complication. A simple and easy-to-pronounce business name is more memorable and less likely to be misspelled. You want something that will stick.

  • Make it unique: Your business name should be distinctive and memorable. Sometimes this can be a challenge. You come up with something great only to find there’s something similar or that name is already out there. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Avoid generic or overused names that are already in use by other companies. Sometimes this may not be avoidable, but do your best.

  • Check availability: Before you finalize your business name, make sure it’s available as a domain name and on social media platforms.

You don’t want to have to compete for attention with a business that has the same name. Sometimes this step is overlooked and that’s a mistake.😉

  • Get feedback: Once you have a shortlist of potential names, get feedback from friends, family, and colleagues.

There should be someone you know who is very supportive of what you are trying to accomplish. Ask them which name they find most memorable and appealing. However, the final say is yours.

Remember, your business name will be an important part of your brand identity, so take your time and choose wisely. Give it the time and attention it needs, to be something that brings you joy in using.

Do not get sidetracked by what others think it should or should not be. Everyone will have an opinion. It’s your baby, go with your head-to-gut feeling and don’t look back! Good luck! 😊

Things I Enjoy Doing: Meeting With Friends At Coffee Shops? Knead Bread

Coffee with Friends

Ok, so maybe it’s not a coffee shop, but it is at the moment. Knead Bread, it reminds me of a little French bakery with it’s amazing display of tasty looking pastries and breads, and their few tables and chairs. Not to mention all the French coffee shop paintings. 😊

I always enjoy my time there – with a small coffee and a tasty pastry. My friends would have something similar or completely different. We sit and relax – while chatting about something or nothing important, and the best part? No discussing anything about work! 👏🏽

A little chit chat with the owner, his wife, and a crew member is always a great highlight of the visit. They are very friendly and they’re more than happy to offer suggestions on what to try. 🥰

Have you been to a coffee shop with a friend or friends lately? How much did you enjoy it?
